The date was August 28, 2020. Guided by my Italian-born friend who worked in the German Parliament (Reichstag), we were taking a short tour of the parliament building. One of the most interesting spots inside the building was the museum. In the museum, I was examining the newspaper containing the news of the February 27, 1933 Reichstag Fire, which marked a turning point in the Nazis' march to power. Those yellowed pages were the official witness to hair-raising events and seemed to say to me, "Learn from your pain and your mistakes."

While I was inside examining this dark page of history, I was unaware of what was happening just outside the parliament. A far-right, racist crowd, supposedly gathered to protest the coronavirus crisis, was preparing to storm the parliament. The wheels of time seemed to be bringing a parallel of the events that paved the way for World War II back to the world stage.

Occultism, Black Magic, and Politics: From the 'Freud' Series to History

While a segment of German society experienced an eclipse of reason under the influence of far-right movements that peaked with the pandemic, a series named 'Freud' was released on Netflix on March 23, 2020.

The series revolves around the hypnosis research of neurologist Sigmund Freud and his desire to prove himself. However, in this horror-thriller fiction—which is far from a true biography—the most striking element is the power behind the committed murders: the Hungarian medium Fleur Salomé. The true weapon used by nationalist nobles aiming to secede from the Austro-Hungarian Empire to seize power was occultism, black magic, and demonic forces.

Those who experience the intoxication of power under the leadership of their egos never give up resorting to demonic means to achieve their goals when necessary. To them, everything is permissible on the path to power. Indeed, the pages of history are filled with stories of those who tried to seize power using black magic, occultism, and secret societies.

The Thule Society and the Dark Roots of Nazism (1918)

Now, let us take a short journey through time and space. We set our time machine to August 17, 1918, and our course to the city of Munich, Germany.

We are in a room at the Vier Jahreszeiten (Four Seasons) hotel, adorned with wooden furniture and magnificent carpets. In this room, the founding of an organization that will go down as a dark stain in world history and light the fuse of World War II is taking place: the Thule Society.

The founder of the society is Rudolf von Sebottendorf, whom the Nazis saw as their "spiritual father and headmaster." Sebottendorf was a student of Guido von List, the mastermind behind the idea of the master race and neo-paganism. The German occultist and politician Sebottendorf and the members of the Thule Society utilized every dark method to reach their goals and seize power, ultimately finding the person who would reflect the power of the devil onto the world stage: Adolf Hitler.

Sebottendorf openly confessed this truth in an interview with a magazine in 1937 with these chilling words:

"I chose Adolf. Every member of the NSDAP is now ready to be a hero. I did not need a nobleman, but a leader who would advance the German nation toward my goal. I did not need cowardly and timid aristocratic boys, but patriotic and enlightened children. I chose them, gave instructions to my friends, and today we are marching steadily toward the goal. Germany will not lose... We have a second sanctuary. If we experience disappointment at the front, we will continue on our path there."
